Your child’s first visit
We hope your child is ready to say-ahh! We have a goal of giving every child the best dental care and experience as possible. Below you’ll find a list of what to expect during your child’s first visit:
Thorough examination and evaluation
Your child’s first visit will consist of a consultation with one of our doctors. During this consultation, your child will receive a thorough clinical examination and evaluation of their teeth, supporting structures, and bite. Appropriate radiographs (x-rays) will be taken if necessary.
Informed decisions through accurate diagnosis
These procedures are designed to accurately diagnose problems and determine if any intervention is needed, as well as to determine if tooth development is proceeding normally. After studying any radiographs and the examination record, you will be informed of the diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment plan that might be applicable.
Education and
preventative care
In addition to these “hands-on” dental services, we’ll include preventative and restorative dental care information and counselling. If your child is healthy, with no known concerns, we will give you the information you need to raise a cavity-free child including an overview of diet, nutrition, and home care for a healthy mouth.
First Visit FAQ
How should I prepare my child for their first visit?
Children are often way cooler about going to see the dentist than their parents are. Try not to project any anxiety you might have onto your little one. Just relax and be honest – tell your child they are going to the dentist, which is a good thing. You can even say things like: “the doctor will count your teeth”, and “you’ll go for a ride in the chair”.
